About Me

Hey guys! I’m Michaela–wife of Captain Kirk, mommy to a boy, Ashton (3), and a girl, Annie (1). They are my world! I love to travel, explore, read, and spend time with my family.

My fitness journey began in October 2015. After having Ashton, I was depressed about the way my body looked and how I felt. I always hated exercising and never needed to worry about what I ate, but my body completely changed after pregnancy and I really struggled to lose the baby weight. I tried dozens of home workout programs and diets–nothing stuck and nothing helped. And having had a large portion of my spine fused in May 2011, doctors had restricted me from doing exercises that people usually do to lose weight. I really felt like it was hopeless.

After having Annie, I decided that I really needed to find something that worked for me and that I could stick with. I joined a gym and hired a personal trainer, and started to like working out. Just a little. I started gaining muscle and feeling a little more confident in my abilities and in my body. But having a personal trainer was expensive, and with my husband in school and two little ones at home, it just wasn’t possible to continue. I also realized that I needed to nail down a nutrition plan–because it didn’t matter how much I exercised; without proper nutrition, I wasn’t going to see any results.

A friend of mine posted results from a program she was doing on her Facebook page, and I was amazed to see what she had accomplished in such a short amount of time. Desperate to see and FEEL a change in my body, I asked her about it and she put me in contact with my now-coach. I ordered the 21 Day Fix and Shakeology and joined her challenge group.

After two rounds of the 21 Day Fix, I lost over 13 inches. I was shocked by how much better I felt–mentally and physically. Because of the Shakeology, I had so much more energy. I used to have to take naps every day with my kids. It’s now my favorite meal of the day and it has improved my moods and mental clarity. When I first started, I was scared that I wouldn’t be able to do a lot of the moves because of my back restrictions. But I found that I was able to do things I never thought I’d be able to! I have to modify certain exercises (normal crunches involve a curved spine, but rods don’t really bend 😉 ), but I LOVE pushing myself and seeing what my body is capable of!

I decided to become a Beachbody coach after seeing the change that happened in me because of the products. I am happier, more confident, have a much higher self-esteem, and I just feel GOOD! And because I feel good, I do good. I want to help others reach their goals and become more confident. It’s such an amazing feeling to help someone change their life.

I’m currently doing Body Beast and Country Heat and I’m LOVING them! My husband is doing Body Beast with me which makes it even better! Check back for updates on my fitness journey!
